Zachary’s Favorite Foods (Young Toddler)

As a 15 month old toddler, Zachary has been fully transitioned to eating table foods for several months already (see the post about the transition), at first with his hands and with us using a spoon, and now using a spoon on his own (and sometimes still his hands!).

Once he fully had the hang of table foods, he now pretty much eats the same menu we do (at least for lunch and dinner), but definitely has his favorites…

Breakfast (with whole milk)
  • Oatmeal, almost any flavor – this combined with a whole banana is by far his favorite breakfast
  • French toast sticks dipped in applesauce – he loves dipping, squishing, then eating
  • Scrambled eggs made with cream cheese and served with sweet potato tots
AM and PM Snacks (with whole milk)
  • Cheddar cheese sticks (not string cheese) with veggie straws
  • Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies or Cinnamon Bunnies
  • Applesauce or other smashed fruit – served from a pouch when on the go but otherwise from a standard applesauce cup
  • Whole banana with crackers or mini muffin
  • Mandarin oranges with crackers
  • Peanut butter & jelly
Lunch and Dinner (listed is just the entree, then we add veggies and/or fruit plus whole milk to round out the meal)
  • Chicken Pot Pie and Beef Pot Pie
  • Chicken schwarma plate with falafal, hummus, cilantro sauce, etc.
  • Chicken and cheese quesadilla with beans and rice
  • Chicken enchiladas with beans and rice
  • Risotto made with chicken broth, with chicken chunks and peas added in
  • Spaghetti bolognese (I use whole wheat noodles and make the sauce with lots of chopped veggies and lean beef)
  • Shepherd’s pie
  • Grilled chicken with rice or potatoes
  • Beef brisket
  • Pad Thai
  • Mac and cheese with ground beef plus peas and carrots
